Society Registration is the process of legally registering a non-profit organization under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. A society is formed by a group of individuals who come together for charitable, educational, cultural, religious, or social purposes.
Societies are commonly established for NGOs, charitable institutions, educational organizations, welfare groups, and cultural associations. Once registered, a society gets legal recognition and can operate officially, receive donations, open a bank account, and apply for government grants and schemes.
To register a society in India, a minimum of 7 members is required. These members collectively manage the society according to the Memorandum of Association (MOA) and Rules & Regulations submitted during the registration process.
